The Leke Abejide Foundation deworming programme for children across Yagba Federal Constituency took off on a good start in Egbe, Yagba West Council, today with the distribution of pharmaceutical products to health officials.
The vaccination exercise is set to commence tomorrow (Tuesday).
Community leaders and women groups who joined the health workers to receive the products at St John’s Primary School. Egbe, commended Elder Leke Abejide for the initiative aimed at safe-guarding the health and well-being of children across Yagba.
According to the Director-General, Leke Abejide Foundation, Chief Shola Adebola, “By providing this deworming treatments to our children, we are taking a significant step towards protecting them from the harmful effects of different parasites”.
He disclosed that the deworming initiative will take place in the three local government areas while the targeted ages of children to be dewormed are between ages 1 to 10 years.
He described the programme as a life-saving exercise and enjoined children, mothers, parents and guidance to ensure children internalise hand washing to enhance hygiene among the children. He called for full participation in the life saving initiative of the Leke Abejide Foundation.
