Member representing Yagba Federal constituency, Honourable Leke ABEJIDE has appealed to his supporters and well wishers not to distract him with calls to contest in the 2027 House of Rep election in 2024 as he is preoccupied with governance for now.
Abejide also cautioned those permutating that his return to House of Representatives is to position him for this or that position should allow time to come before any permutation and above all allow God who enthrones one into a position to take charge. I will only appeal to all to assist me in prayers to direct me aright and at appropriate time do what only Him can do.
Rather, the Kogi adjudged best Rep Member said he is busy consolidating on providing good Governance for the good people of Yagba Federal Constituency and concentrating on his duties at the National Assembly as a Lawmaker.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 26 through his Chief of Staff, Chief Shola Adebola following the numerous calls across the constituency that the House of Representatives Member should throw his hat to the ring for 2027 general election; Hon Leke Abejide stated that having come out from the National Assembly election early last year, followed by the governorship contest in November, he is just settling down to his duties, focusing on how to contribute his quota in bringing economic renewal to his people in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigeria.
“In the past couple of days, our office have been undated with calls across Yagbaland that our boss, the performing House of Rep member will or should run again in 2027; but Honourable Leke Joseph Abejide is totally focused and committed to delivering the mandate given to him by the people of Yagba Land for second term, and bringing economic succour to his constituency.
“Honourable Leke ABEJIDE on 13th June, 2024 just spent a year out of the 4 years mandate giving to him. For now he has a lot to do and he has taking the decision to focus his time and energy to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people that entrusted the mandate to him”
Abejide who called for support to deliver his second term mandate, said the issue of the 2027 elections is still far to be a subject of debate that can take attention away from governance. It should not be in the front burner in 2024!
“I appeal once again to those behind the calls to allow me concentrate but if they refused to stop the premature campaign, even if they are my friends, I will dissociate myself from them. I also urge politicians not to allow their rhetorics about 2027 to affect our land rather they should pray to God for life and good health as only the living and the healthy will play politics.
“The choice of who becomes presiding officer both in the Senate and House of Representatives is the collective decisions of elected National Assembly members with the support of Party Leaders led by the President as such Hon. Leke would not like to be drawn to debates that will divert his attention and by extension creating issues ahead of time.
“God is the owner of lives and when the time is right, he will guide and guard our path to wherever he desires. I say it again, all interest concerning 2027 is premature to begin to be discussed as a major concern as people will perceive anyone doing that now as not a serious politician.
