In a swift reaction to the monumental stealing of farm equipments by the supposed leaders of Hon James Abiodun Faleke Agriculture Empowerment Program in Kabba, the House Committee Chairman on Finance and member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency have suspended all activities in the farm center in Kabba and Aiyegunle in Kabba-Bunu local government area.
Hon. James Faleke who believes in empowering people of different tribes and colours had set up the farm center as part of his deliberate contributions to the national food bank wherein all farm produces in the farm will be taking up by the off takers but surprisingly the centers were looted by the Chairman of the Center, one Sunday Bakare a former Councillor in Kabba-Bunu local government.
Confirming the ugly incident, the Secretary of the farm center, Hon. Ogunsanmi who was interviewed by one of our correspondent, said it is disheartening for a supposed leader in the community to behave in such a callous way of discouraging someone who mean well for the people and all he could do was to steal all the farm equipments which will make the work easy.
He said everything that is missing in the farm center is almost five million Naira (#5m), stressing that Sunday Bareke has confessed to have perpetuated the act of selling the farm equipments without the knowledge of other executives but could not reconcile as to why a former Chairman of Kabba-Bunu local government, one Funsho Olorunfemi got himself entangled in the act as he begged for them to allow him to go free, stressing that his acts had discouraged Hon. James Faleke hence ordered for the suspension of all activities in the center.
While the consultant for the program, Dr. Tunde Arosayin said it is unheard of that personalities that should lay good examples are the ones encouraging bad behavior, pointing out that what happened in Kabba Centre is enough to discourage any individual who has plans to assist the people through such programs.
He said he actually don’t know what they are looking for after all the incentives given to all the participants of the program, they still find a way of stealing equipments and even the little harvest, stressing that all investments in the farm are nowhere to be found, hence the initiator threatened to give out the warehouse he built in the center to the community.
Meanwhile, information reaching us confirmed that the committee set up to look into the issue have confiscate two plots of land belonging to Sunday Bareke to raise money as part payment for the equipment stolen while his leader who was said to have given confidence him to perpetuate the act is said to be begging for him to be allowed to go scot free.
Hon James Abiodun Faleke means well for the people but it seems the people who he is using as his links in Kabba might be sabotaging his laudable efforts of wanting to empower people through various programs of such that have been closed down due to looting.
