NPC, UNICEF commence e-Birth Registration training for Enumerators in Kogi East

The National Population Commission (NPC) , in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has commenced e-birth registration training for enumerator in Kogi states.

The training in its first phase is taking place simultaneously in three location; each at the headquarters of the three Federal constituencies in Kogi East.

Speaking in Anyigba, headquarters of Dekina, Bassa federal constituency, the Head of Department, Vital Registration in Kogi NPA, Mrs. Omatah Ralli said the training is to equiped enumerators on the basic of Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (e-CRVS) system under the National Population Commission (NPC).

“The platform will digitalise all civil documentation such as birth and stillbirth registrations, birth attestation, adoption, marriage notification, divorce notification, migration and death.

Mrs. Ralli said the manual registration for children has become obsolete hence the need to migrate to digital platform that will enhance proper planing and documentation, The E-birth registration will ensure every child in Nigeria has legal identity. It will also close a lot of gap, thereby ensuring that every child counts.

She said over 130 volunteers are trained as enumerators who will in the next 14 to 25 days work on the field to collate data.”

She also urged newsmen to help in the sensitization of the scheme as the enumerators will be sent to the field as soon as the three days training is completed.

She said the training will also avoid the enumerators opportunity of allocating National Identity Number to each child captured on the field.

She eulogized UNICEF for their partnership as well as the provision of logistics for the scheme.
