UNICEF trains 260 enumerators on e- Birth Registration in Kogi.

UNICEF in conjuction with the National Population Commission (NPC) Kogi State has trained 260 enumerators from seven local government areas in the eastern senatorial axis of KOGI state on e-birth registration.

The local governments are Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/odolu and Ofu, Dekina, Bassa and Omala local government areas in Kogi state.

The three days event witnessed 120 enumerators, 30 each from Idah, Igalamela, Ofu and Ibaji trained at St. Peter School in Idah, while the remaining 140 from the rest three LGAs were trained at Our Lady of School in Anyigba.

The ICT Co-ordinator in Idah cluster centre, Mr. Ehimoni Kolawole while addressing the enumerators, said the exercise was necessary to enable them have accurate data of children given birth to in their various communities in Idah federal Constituency.

He noted that enumerators will be fully equipped for the exercise so that they can give accurate report at the end of the exercise.

Mr. Kolawole stressed that this will enable government to plan effectively for the people by knowing numbers of children given birth to during a particular year.

“You are expected to visit wards, houses to houses for the registration. You must also capture children given birth to by women on the street. Those of you that may have some challenges especial in Ibaji where their is no network, you are expected to record it in a sheet and then later you transfer them in to your Android where their is network”, he said.

He also cautioned them to avoid recording fake data where by some enumerators will sit-down in one place and recorded everything by himself without actually going to where they were posted to conduct the exercise.

The three days training also took place in, Ankpa Local government area of the state capturing Ankpa and Olamaboro enumerators.
