Top officials of the Kogi State Government led by Governor Usman Ododo are expected to storm the ancient Amuro land to grace the coronation ceremony of the Alamuro of Amuro Oba (Engineer) Alfred Modupe Aiyedogbon, this Saturday, 3 August.
The ceremony, which promises to be an elaborate rejuvenation of culture, will also feature conferment of chieftaincy titles and awards on deserving sons, daughters, and friends of the community. It will hold at the expansive Amuro Community Secondary School, ACSS.
Dr. Gilbert Obajemu, President, Amuro Community Development Association, ACDS, in a statement, said all is now set for the grand ceremony, urging all and sundry to come out en-masse to participate in it. He also thanked those who have donated in cash and kind towards the success of the program.
“Our people have displayed exemplary commitment to the success of the programme. It is a great privilege to lead the people as their servant at this unique period.
“We are peaceful and development oriented. And this you can see in the crisis-free and unambigious process for the selection of Alamuro, a rotational stool among all the seven Amuro towns.”
He noted that the revered stool had no fixed tenure and explained that once an Alamuro passes, it moves to the next town in line. “This process bequeathed by our forefathers is distinct, and I believe others can emulate it.”
“His Royal Majesty, Oba Alfred Aiyedogbon, has since assumed office as the Alamuro of Amuro land. What we are doing is a formal coronation, which, of course, is a celebration of the process and notable cultural herald, devoid of divisive tendencies.”
In a related development, a businessman and member of the Planning Committee, Chief Temitope Atte reiterated the commitment of indigenes and residents of Amuro land to the success of the ceremony. He opined that the coronation will chat a new roadmap to outstanding infrastructure challenges in the area.
