In furtherance to the proactive mornitoring of flood situation in the State, Kogi State Emergency Management Agency team led by the Executive Secretary, Alh Mouktar Atimah conducted assessment exercise to ascertain the magnitude of flood impacts at Gadumo in Ajaokuta LGA.
The incident affected large community and submerged houses, leaving the victims displaced. The State Government through SEMA relocated the flood victims to the designated Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Gadumo.
Furthermore, the Executive Secretary SEMA asserted that many Local Government Areas and communities were currently affected by flood disaster in Kogi State. The farm produce, socio-economic activities and other essential services were completely disrupted in these communities. Calling on relevant agencies and Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) to support the State Government.
Due to the rising in water level, he advised the residents in flood-prone areas and communities along Riverbanks to move to designated IDPs camps and cooperate with emergency services providers.
