DANGOTE TRUCK KILLED FINAL YEAR STUDENT, ONE OTHER
A devastating accident on the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway has resulted in the death of two students from Borno State University (BOSU), sending shockwaves throughout the campus.
The crash, which occurred in the Jimtilo area, involved a Dangote truck that reportedly lost control and struck a bus carrying BOSU students.
Abba A. Massa, the university’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that it happened on Wednesday as students were heading home after their exams. Among the victims were a final-year male student and a second-year female student, while several others were injured and rushed to two hospitals in Maiduguri—Umaru Shehu Hospital and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital—for immediate medical care.
In the wake of the tragedy, BOSU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babagana Gutti, alongside Borno State’s Head of Service, Barrister Malam Fannami, and other university officials, visited the injured students in the hospitals to offer their support and ensure proper treatment.
Demonstrating solidarity, a group of BOSU students visited the hospitals to comfort their injured peers and donate blood to aid in their recovery.
The entire university community is grieving the loss of the two students, whose funeral will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
