Professor Olu Obafemi, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), has commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State on his first anniversary in office, highlighting the governor’s significant contributions to education and security in the state.

In a statement signed by the Governing Council Chairman, he praised Governor Ododo’s leadership style, particularly noting his hands-on approach to crisis management and educational development.

The Pro-Chancellor highlighted three key aspects of Ododo’s governance: his character and crisis management capabilities, his role as a continuity leader, and his welfare-oriented approach to governance. He specifically mentioned the governor’s swift response when 32 CUSTECH students were abducted, noting how Ododo personally coordinated state and federal resources to secure their rescue.

In the education sector, Professor Obafemi emphasized the governor’s commitment to expanding tertiary education in Kogi State. “The universities are rapidly becoming globally competitive,” he stated, referring to the state’s educational institutions. The Pro-Chancellor also noted that Governor Ododo was among the first governors to implement the new minimum wage, demonstrating his commitment to workers’ welfare.

Looking ahead, the statement revealed plans for infrastructure development, including the governor’s intention to construct an airport in Kogi State. Professor Obafemi described this as demonstrating “radiant grittiness of inimitable nerve and adventure.”The Pro-Chancellor concluded by calling on Kogi residents to support the governor’s vision for modernizing the state, emphasizing the need for constructive support rather than sycophancy. “He has shown capability to build a modern Kogi,” Professor Obafemi affirmed, “and must continue to do so with all the support that he can get from all us as co-workers and compatriots.”
