33 Years After Creation: Kogi Govt Signs MoU to Establish State TV Station

Kogi State Government on Friday in Lokoja signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Pora Films for the establishment of State-owned Television station.

This is coming thirty three years after the creation of the State.

The administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has made the moves to establish the State Television.

Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, who signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government, expressed delight over the development, saying the partnership will transform the Media industry in the State.

“The Television will enable the State to tell its stories to the world, and promote investment”.

She expressed confidence in the capacity of the Partner to build a world class television, stressing that the State Government is committed to ensuring that the project is executed in line with international best practices.

She charged Pora Films to ensure standard as the State Government believes in positive competition, urging the Information Ministry to Coordinate well by ensuring adequate monitoring

The SGS congratulated the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo for making the move possible during his time, describing it as a milestone achievement in the development of Kogi State.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo thanked the Governor for bringing the dream to reality, noting that the choice of the Firm was to run the TV in line with global standards.

He assured that measures have been put in place to make the TV one of the best in the Country.

Co-Founder of Pora Films, Mr. Olajide Ojoniyi said the Company has been achieving feats for DSTV and other giants in the Broadcast industry, promising to replicate the same in Kogi.

The MoU is a Public Private Partnership which is expected to last for five years and renewable for two years after which it will be handed over to the State Government.

The MoU was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Ebenezer Adorodija, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Special Duties in the office of the SSC, Abdulazeez Momoh, the Director General Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf and Managing Director of The Graphics Newspaper, Yusuf Itopa witnessed the ceremony.
