Land Use Charge Law will bring development to Kogi – KGIRS
Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) has identified the Land Use Charged Law as an investment that would pave ways for better infrastructure, improved public services and a greater future for the people of Kogi State.
The Executive Chairman of KGIRS Alhaji Salihu Sule Enehe stated this on Wednesday at the premises of the organization in Lokoja during the unveiling of the implementation of the Land Use Charge Law, 2024 in Kogi State.
According to him , the implementation of the law marked a pivotal step in strengthening the revenue base of the State for sustainable development, noting that the successful implementation of the law would yield numerous benefits for all the stakeholders and the State in general.
“This legislation is a crucial step towards enhancing revenue generation for our local governments, fostering data-driven decision-making, and paving the way for the development of smart cities and job creation in Kogi State.
“Our ongoing tax reforms aim to streamline revenue collection, promote transparency, and ensure that all stakeholders contribute their fair share towards the State’s development. The successful implementation of this law will yield numerous benefits for our stakeholders and for the state at large even as I urge you all to join forces with us to make this initiative a resounding success.
“A well-structured revenue system is the foundation of good governance. It is a token that will be taking as tax from every property owners across the 21 local government areas of the State.
“By embracing the Land Use Charge, you are helping to empower the government to deliver more impactful projects that will benefit businesses, communities, and future generations” the Chairman said.
In his remark, the Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on revenue generation Rahaman Nasir Ichanyi commended the Chairman and management of the revenue service for the initiative , assuring that the state government would continue to give the desired support for the successful implementation of the law.
In her closing remark, the KGIRS director in charge of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) appealed to media houses to assist the organization in sensitizing the people on the need and the advantages abound in the law when fully implemented.
