1,580 treated of diabetes, HBP at Ejule Community medical outreach

 

A number of 1,580 members of Ejule Community in Ofu local government of Kogi state were examined and treated for diabetes, High Blood Pressure and Eye defect at a medical outreach organized by Ejule Forum.

Majority of benefitiaries in the free medical program are senior citizens considered vulnerables in the community.

The 24-man medical team assembled by the Forum led by Parm Abuh Ademu were equipped with necessary drugs
and other health facilities.

The medical outreach was preceded on the day by a road walk by the organisers Ejule Forum to senditise youths of the dangers of drug abuse and consumption of narcotics and other psycho-active substances.

In his welcome address, National President of Ejule Forum Dr Farouk Achimugu said, “Today, we gather not just to provide medical services to the vulnerable in our community, but to reinforce our collective responsibility for the health and well-being of our people.

“In this medical outreach, we have assembled relevant drugs and medical experts to render the service free of charge. The health challenges we are focusing in the exercise are Hypertension, Diabetes, Eye screenings, Deworming etc

“In organizing this outreach, our expectation is that we will be able to provide health solutions to our people, promote their health conditions, show love to the needy, protect the lives of the vulnerable and promote the health status of Ejule Community in general.

“It is our strong believe that any investment in the health of our people is worth it, hence we intend to make this outreach an annual event to be able to sustain a healthy lifestyle in the community and environs.

Dr. Achimugu who used the medical outreach to stage a public enlightenment campaign against drug abuse among youths stressed the need to empower the youths with relevant knowledge information that will discourage them from consumption of illicit drugs.

He said, “The youths is the strength, future and backbone of the community and we will not allow their future to be ruined through the flagrant abuse of drugs.

“And so, today’s program is more than just a health initiative, it is a call to action for every member of our community to participate actively in safeguarding our health and promoting well-being.

The road walk to senditise the youths on danger of drug abuse took the organisers to Idah road, Alloma road, Allah road, Okele road and Anyigba road.

Dr. Achimugu expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Joel Oyibo for his support and encouragement. He also expressed gratitude to member of house of representatives Hon David Zacharia for his partnership in the outreach.

He also commend all members of Ejule Forum at home and in diaspora for making fund available for the outreach.

Deputy Governor of Kogi State Joel Salfu Oyibo was represented by former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon Sadiq Ainoko.
