ADC Youth Frontiers Demands Removal of Adaji John as Party Secretary, Affirms Abejide as State Leader.
The Kogi State ADC Youth Frontiers has reacted strongly to the recent kangaroo publication announcing the ratification of the suspension of Hon. Leke Abejide, which was purportedly signed by Mr. Adaji John Udale in his capacity as Secretary of the party.
The Youth Frontiers wish to draw the attention of party faithful, stakeholders, and the general public to the illegality of Mr. Udale’s continued role in the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State.
Mr. Udale is currently an employee of the National Museum in Nasarawa State, which makes him a public servant. Specifically, Section 66(1)(f) read together with Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and reinforced by Section 172, as well as the Code of Conduct for Public Officers (Fifth Schedule, Part I, Paragraph 2): “Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing paragraph, a public officer shall not be a member of, or belong to, or take part in the management or affairs of any political party or trade union.” This expressly forbids public officers from active participation in partisan politics.
By this provision, Mr. Udale’s activities as Secretary of ADC in Kogi State constitute a direct violation of the Constitution.
His involvement in the signing and public dissemination of documents related to party administration is not only illegal but also exposes the party to unnecessary legal risks. The constitution is clear: public servants are to remain neutral in politics unless they resign, withdraw, or retire from public service before assuming partisan responsibilities.
The ADC Youth Frontiers therefore insist that Mr. Udale has no legal or moral right to continue parading himself as Secretary of ADC in Kogi State. His presence in that office undermines the credibility of the party and makes a mockery of internal democracy and rule of law. The party cannot afford to ignore such a glaring breach of constitutional order.
We hereby call on the State Working Committee of ADC, under the leadership of Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga, to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves. The Committee must critically review this anomaly and act decisively to restore order and respect for the Constitution within the party.
The ADC Youth Frontiers issues a 72-hour ultimatum to the State Working Committee to remove Mr. Udale as Secretary of the party. Should the Committee fail to act within this timeframe, we shall be left with no option but to initiate legal proceedings to protect the integrity of our party and ensure that the constitutional provisions guiding public service and political participation are strictly upheld.
This matter is not just about internal party discipline but about the rule of law. No one is above the Constitution, and no party should allow its structures to be compromised by those who clearly fall short of constitutional requirements.
It is equally important to reaffirm that Hon. Leke Abejide remains the authentic leader of the African Democratic Congress in Kogi State. His record of service, commitment to the party’s growth, and dedication to the welfare of the people have distinguished him as the face of ADC in the state. Any attempt to diminish his role through unconstitutional means will be firmly resisted by party members and supporters.
Signed:
Comrade Monday Akor.
Kogi State Cordinator,
ADC Youth Frontiers
