ADC, community leaders laud Olajide over developmental strides

A leader of the Africa Democratic congress (ADC) in Oyo State and a community leader , Mr Bode Ashiru on Saturday lauded the member representing Ibadan northwest/Ibadan southwest federal constituency in the house of representatives, Hon Adedeji Olajide, over his commitment to the development of his constituency.

Ashiru also pledged his continued support for the lawmaker, saying that he was impressed with his efforts at making live more meaningful to the people of the area.

The ADC leader, who is also a community leader in Imalefalafia/Ayegbusi/Idi-Ope in Ibadan southwest local government area of Oyo state stated this while speaking at an interface with the lawmaker in Ibadan.

The meeting was organised by the Community Development association (CDA) in the area to appreciate Olajide for the provision of street lights in the community and to also inform him about their other areas of need.

Ashiru said the gesture by the federal representatives had drastically reduced threat of insecurity in the community and also improved economic activities of the people of the area.

He said although he is not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Olajide belonged to, he (Ashiru) was ready to support him in his political quest.

The leadership of the CDA in the area also applauded Olajide for contributing to the socio economic development of the people of the area.

Addressing the community, the lawmaker said he would not impose development project on the people but would implement projects demanded by the people.

He added that in the business of law making, which he was primarily elected for, he had moved motions and contributed to bills which had been passed by the green chamber of the national assembly.

Olajide said, “In my legislative duties, I have moved several motions, I have sponsored bills, the motions I am talking about are not commercial motions, but those that will add value to the lives of the people I am representing. I am presently in 22 committees and this is as a result of my contributions in the national assembly.

“There are lots of advantages for our people because of my belonging to many committees, although the Covid-19 that ravaged the entire world really slowed us down but we thank God that things are beginning to take shape and our people will start seeing us rolling out our projects that we have put in the 2020 budget.

“We have started renovation of Ratibi Moslem Scool, Molete and the same thing we are doing at UMC Demonstration School in Oke Ado, we have over 200 solar light that we want to share among our communities, we know this may not be enough but we have to start somewhere.

“There are some communities that we gave specific campaign promises, like Adifase, we promised to sink borehole for them, we have completed the bore and they have started test running it, Logudu community also, we have given them a borehole. We also have a campaign promise to sink a borehole in this area; we are beginning to fulfill the promises.

“We are paying attention to what our people need, not what I want to give you, I don’t want to be far from you because we will definitely still need you, I have a good intention and I want to assure you that by the grace of God I won’t disappoint you”.
