Congratulations to Director of Pan African University for Life and Earth Sciences, Ibadan (PAULESI) Prof. Titilayo Akinlabi

Following the recent publication of SciVal, a web-based analytics solution, Prof Esther Akinlabi ranks as number 17th position among the top 500 authors and researchers, by Scholarly Output in Africa for the period covering 2015 to 2020. Professor Esther Akinlabi has published over 520 articles in reputable international journal outlets. Her articles have received 1759 citations and 23 h-index. The h-index is an author level metric measuring the productivity and citation impact of the publications of a scientist or researcher.

Prof Esther Akinlabi has, through this uncommon feat, lauded the voice as well as raised the head of the voiceless especially those in the sciences. She is a pragmatic mother, well-travelled, very energetic and resourceful, stable and very accommodating.
She recently assumed office as the Director of the Pan African University for Life and Earth Sciences Ibadan (PAULESI).

Professor Esther Titilayo Akinlabi, a Kabba born Princess and a renown and well celebrated Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering
She completed her secondary education in St Barnabas Secondary School, Kabba and later proceeded to Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) where she did her first degree in Agricultural Engineering and graduated as the Best graduating student with a CGPA of 4.02 out of 5.
Her Masters degree qualification is in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. She bagged her PhD in Mechanical engineering from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Prior assuming office as the Director of the Pan African University for Life and Earth Sciences Ibadan (PAULESI), Nigeria in July 2020, Prof Esther Akinlabi has vast meritorious service at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Science, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, University of Johannesburg. While in UJ, she served as the Head of Department and Vice Dean, Teaching and Learning for the Faculty.

Her research interest spans modern and advanced manufacturing processes – Friction stir welding and additive manufacturing. Her research in the field of laser based additive manufacturing include laser material processing and surface engineering. Her other areas of research interest are renewable energy and biogas production from waste. She is a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated researcher in South Africa.

Prof Esther Akinlabi has supervised to graduation- 25 PhDs and 35 Masters students. Currently supervising 13 PhD students and 2 Masters all registered at the University of Johannesburg.
Her leadership, mentorship and research experience are immaculate. Professor Esther Akinlabi is a recipient of several research grants and awards of recognition to her credit. She is a registered member of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), Council for the Regulation of Engineering Profession in Nigeria (COREN), South African Institution of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMechE), America Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
