President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended For approving the execution of massive gully erosion control project worth several millions of Naira in Dekina town, Dekina Local Government of Kogi State.
The immediate past Minister of State Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ocheni gave the commendation today in Dekina after been conferred with the Chieftiancy title of Ogah Eje Dekina by the Eje Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje.
Professor Ocheni also extended appreciation to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha for expediting the approval of the project through the Ecological Funds office, Abuja.
The former Minister stated that with the completion of the projects according to specifications, residents whose lives and property were under threat are now living safe and relieved.
He further noted that through his intervention, a Federal Government skills acquisition and training center has been built and equipped at Ogbogbo, Igalamela/Odolu local government of the state to empower the people with the necessary skills for self reliance.
Speaking on the title Ogah Ejeh Dekina conferred on him, Professor Ocheni appreciated the Ejeh Dekina and Acting Chairman, Igala Area Traditional Council ,Alhaji Usman Obaje for the honor.
He described the title as a recognition and acceptance of his sustained efforts towards the growth and development of the state.
The Ogah Ejeh Dekina said he was aware of the responsibilities of his new title and assured that he will continue to contribute his quota to the development of Igalaland and Kogi State as a whole.
Oh his appointment as Chairman, Board of Trustees of Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA), Professor Ocheni promised that the Board will bring descendants of Igala together to – development the land.
Professor Ocheni commended the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja for the construction of an edifice as Igala Unity House in Anyigba.
He also praised the Governor Bello led Administration for the ongoing operation light up Kogi East, describing it as one of the best in recent times ,which according to him will boost socio-economic activities in the area upon completion.
The former Minister called on traditional leaders and stakeholders in the area to continue to support the Association to enable it succeed in it’s quest to entrench unity and progress.
The Eje Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje said the honor conferred on Professor Stephen Ocheni was in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the development of his domain.
