Beneficiaries of the initiative of Gov. Yahaya Bello and His Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja to enhancing Entrepreneurial spirit amongst Kogites were at the Kogi Enterprise Development Agency to receive their start up grant cheques.
It will be recall that, the GYB-CEDO /EBIGO Foundation; poised as a means to encourage entrepreneurs in the state especially among youth, selected 30 young Kogites to train, mentor and financially support their businesses with funding for their startups.
The businesses which comprise of 10 Entities registered under 10 Chief Executive Officers with 20 Executive Directors are expected to receive the sum of a million naira grant each.
In her address to the beneficiaries, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Hajia Rekiya Onaivo Sanni expressed her appreciation to His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello and His Deputy Cheif Edward Onoja for deeming it fit to empower youth through the wonderful gesture.
Hajia Rekiya Sanni described the youth as a group in the society with enormous strength which when provided with an enabling environment such as has been provided have the capacity to achieve phenomenal results.
The Managing Director reiterated that the grant to the beneficiaries should not be seen as a free gift rather as an opportunity to grow.
she further noted that KEDA as an agency set up to stimulate, control and support entrepreneurs, SMEs will continue to provides support to the beneficiaries and other youths at all levels so as to achieve the strong self reliance and enhance socio economic development in the state.
Also present at the occasion was the Deputy Governor Chief Edward Onoja represented by Hon. Sunday Faleke, Deputy Chief of Staff, KEDA Executive Directors of Finance & Administration, and Operation Mr. Usman Zubair, Mr. Akin Akinola, State Director SMEs, Alhaji Yakubu Muhammed, Pharm. Alexandra Onoja BOT Chairman, GCEF, Executive Director, GCEF Abaniwo. C. Nathaniel, Abdullahi Maiyaki and the representatives of the United Bank for Africa.
