Insecurity: Ijumu Security Trust Fund Donates Motorcycles To Police In Kogi

The regular patrol of Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State received a boost Thursday as the Ijumu Security Trust Fund donated seven motorcycles to the Anti Kidnapping squad of the Nigeria Police in the Area.

The Local Government has been faced by insecurity ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and well as farmers herders crisis.

The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni had in 2020 constituted the Trust Fund Committe which is Chaired by General J.O.S Oshanupin (Retired).

Speaking during the donation of the motorcycles held at his Palace at Iyara, Oba Ayeni noted that the gesture was part of the commitment of some notable Ijumu sons and daughters to the security of lives of the Local Government.

“We appreciate our sons and daughters for coming to our aide by making donations which enable to give this motorcycles to the Police Squad recently deployed to our local government by the Inspector General of Police.” The Monarch stated.

He further said “Some of our children are scared of visiting home due to fears of being kidnapped. This is totally unacceptable because Ijumu is our land and we will not allow criminals to succeed in their evil acts”

The Ijumu Paramount Ruler said adequate security cannot be committed to the hands of government alone, hence the constitution of the Trust Fund Committee who solicited support of illustrious indigenes of the Area that neccesitated the presentation of the Motorcycles.

Oba Ayeni expressed appreciation to all who donated for the laudable projects and urged the people of Ijumu to see security as a collective business.

He charged the Officers and Men of the Anti Kidnapping Squad to be alive to the safety of the Local Government as much is expected from them, assuring of more support.

The Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Kabba, Dauda J. Lasisi who received the motorcycles commended the Olujumu for his commitment to issues of security of his domain, saying the act is worth emulating by other Communities.

The happy Area Commander explained that the gesture will enhance the job of the officers.

Also at the donation are; DSO Ijumu Local Government, Mr. Durotiwon who represented the Chairman of the Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isa, DPO Iyara Division, Mr. Akinwumi Orimolade, Mopol Unit Commander, Mr. Mike Audu and members of Ijumu Local Government Traditional Council.
