… Orders Closure of All Motor Parks in Lokoja Metropolis
The Kogi State Government has effective from Monday (today) ordered for the immediate closure of all motor parks in Lokoja Metropolis.
The government likewise directed all commercial vehicles to move to the Lokoja Bus Mega Terminal located in Felele axis of the state capital for operation.
This is just how the state government ordered for the revocation of all lands used as motor parks in the state capital.
This was disclosure yesterday by the State Security Adviser to the governor, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) during a press briefing in Government House Lokoja, who said all parks and Mini parks Within Lokoja Metropolis have been served notification of closure.
Omodara said, “No vehicle is allowed to carry passengers in any parts of the metropolis except at the Mega Terminal. All vehicles traversing Lokoja metropolis must drop-of passengers only inside the Mega Terminal.
“Security agencies along with Kogi State Transportation Road and Maintenance Agency (KOTROMA) have been directed to impound any vehicle that violates the order. We have also directed the Ministry of Transport, various Committees and security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of the order.”
Omodara said a mobile court has also been instituted to commence trial of erring drivers effective from Monday.
The Kogi State Transportation Road and Maintenance Agency (KOTROMA) law stipulate N50,000 fines for any vehicles parked ‘indiscriminately’ or carrying our ‘indiscriminate’ function on state roads.
