Kogi Speaker Holds Town Hall Meeting With Constituents, Speaks on His Stewardship

Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Matthew Kolawole has assured his constituents to consolidate on the gains recorded in the last four years, with a promised that all his previous programmes that has direct bearing on the lives of the people would be sustained.

Kolawole stated this in Kabba on Tuesday during the legislator’s 2019 Town Hall Meeting where he gave stewardship of his legislative activities at the state Assembly and the provision of projects and Empowerment programmes embarked upon for the constituents.

The Speaker however said he has delivered on his promises, stressed that he has also raised the bar of representation in the state.

“I have focused on construction of healthcare facilities, provision of boreholes, education endowment, scholarships, widows and market women Empowerment during my first term.

“I have also provided one borehole for Idde community in Egbeda ward while the annual empowerment for widows will come up soon.

“I want to assure the people of my constituency that with their unalloyed cooperation and support to the current administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the two roads projects flagged off recently would be completed in record time as soon as the projects take off.

“What we are doing today is to set a pace for whoever comes after to follow so that the desired dividend of democracy can be delivered to the electorate in the constituency and we will continue to sustain this annually,” he said.

Kolawole however said the ongoing construction of two cottage hospitals in Gbeleko and Ayede-Bunu, along with other ongoing projects in the constituency would be completed and commissioned to pave ways for new projects line up for his second term.

Also speaking at the meeting, the State Chairman, All Progressive Congress, APC, Abdullahi Bello described the town hall meeting as the only way representative of the people can give feed back to their constituency, urging other lawmakers in the state to emulate the Speaker in that direction.

While commending the constituency for supporting governor Yahaya Bello to win another four years term in office, the APC Chairman assured that the Governor’s second term will usher in more projects for the people.

He promised to assist the Speaker to present the challenges faced by the College of Education Technical  Kabba to the governor for quick action.

The traditional rulers and other members of the constituency in their separate remarks commended the Speaker for delivering dividend of democracy to their domain, and also highlighted other projects their respective communities needed from the legislator.
