Senator Smart Adeyemi has described the story of being projected to succeed governor Yahaya Bello as governor of Kogi State in 2023 as ‘ill conceived concotion with destructive intention.”
The senator in a statement by his Legislative aide, Cornelius Olowo on Monday said the story from an online medium stating that the governor has line him (Adeyemi) up to succeed him was a deliberate attempt to cause confusion within the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The statement reads apart, “The attention of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi has been drawn to an online publication by observerstimes.com with the headline as above.
“Senator Adeyemi this evening debunked the content of the publication in its entirety, describing such concoctions as devilish, ungodly, ill-conceived with deliberate destructive intentions.
“For anyone to be concocting such a 2023/24 agenda in year 2020 is an indication of the denial that only God gives life and determine who sees tomorrow, talk more of three or four years ahead.
“Senator Adeyemi described the conduct of the blogger as a deliberate attempt, probably sponsored, to cause confusion, mistrust and suspicions within the APC of Kogi State and the political structure of our leader, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
“It is obviously too early to instigate discussions on 2023/24 governorship. The issue of who succeeds our leader is not on the table at all, the Kogi State APC, the Kogi State Government and the general public should therefore disregard the publication in its entirety, considering it as a figment of the blogger and his sponsor’s imagination”.
“The senator’s concern is how to team up with the governor towards delivering socio-economic development, improved standard of living, infrastructural turnaround, a fair, equitable and egalitarian society to the people of Kogi State.
“The Senator again emphasised his unalloyed, undiluted, total and non-negotiable loyalty and commitment to the leadership of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, and his resolve to stand by, and defend whatever decision the governor will take as regarding his successor when the time comes.”
