Kogi West: I Didn’t Read Statement Prepared For Me before Signing – Witness Tells Tribunal

A witness in the ongoing National Election Petition Tribunal for Kogi West November 30 election, Gimba Timothy has informed the court that he did not read the statement on oath prepared for him by his lawyer before signing it.
Timothy, a farmer from Tawari Koto, Kogi LGA, while being crossed examined by counsel to 1st respondent, (INEC), Barr. Alashey  Esq, said voting at his polling unit went on smoothly; a development that was completely different from his statement on oath tendered as exhibit before the tribunal.
Timothy who without stress recalled that as an agent, he stood till the end of the voting admitted that the score of PDP and APC recorded as 87 and 139 votes respectively tallied with what was counted at the end of the voting day.
Another witness, Philemon Enock, Ecwa church Chikara Kogi LGA, said their was no violence, over voting or snatching of ballot box during election in his polling unit; which contradicted what was in his statement on oath.
 He also admitted that the recorded score of 72, 118, 003, 003 for PDP, APC, SDP and ADC respectively reflected the true outcome of result for his polling unit on election day.
For Ishak Abdulrahman, Dazeeyi Kotonkarfi Kogi LGA, Fishermen agreed with the counsel to INEC, Barr. Alashey that voting and vote counts was done without any problem at his PU004, Ward 02, In Kotonkarfe, Kogi LGA.
He said though he refused to sign the result sheet but the votes recorded for them was not altered.
For Eseyin Oluwakayode Emmanuel, Obele, Kabba LGA, who claimed their was over voting in six polling units 002-008 in his statement on oath admitted as exhibit 428 could not substantiate his claim in court as he responded in court that he was not physically present in all the polling units on election day.
The tribunal has adjourned till Monday for continuation of hearing.End.
