LOKOJA VARSITY VC: Governing Council Fixes Date For Final Screening, as 20 Jostle For Position
3 FUL Profs, 17 Others In The Race
The Governor Board of the Federal University, LOKOJA, has fixed December 15, 16 and 17 to conduct final screening for the selection of a new Vice Chancellor that will replaced outgoing VC, Prof. Miri Angela.
People’s Defender gathered that the 70 out of the 80 professors that applied for the position were screened out, leaving only ten.
The pro Chancellor, was said to have called on the panel to review the screening to allow more candidate enters for the final stage, saying leaving only ten does not fulfilled the Federal Character position.
the review of the screening result produced another ten, making way for 20 of the aspirnat eligible for the another round of screening.
Amongst the twenty, three were said to be preseny working in the Scholl, while 17 are deom outside the citadel.
Confirming these, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of Federal University Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije had revealed no fewer than 61 professors that applied for the position of the Vice Chancellor of the institution were dropped for not meeting the advert criteria.
Senator Adighije, who spoke journalists in Abuja, also dismissed the allegations that 10 professors from one tribe in Kogi State were disqualified.
According to him, there was no criteria to know the tribe of any applicants in the short listing. He said, of the 81 applicants that submitted applications, only 20 were shortlisted for screening. According to him, the screening would commence middle of the month.
Speaking on the shortlisting, he said: “The council unanimously approved the list, there was no dissenting voice. So 20 candidates will face the Selection board.”End.
