… Police Arrest 5 Gang Members
Five suspected kidnapers have been arrested in Ankpa, Ankpa local government area of Kogi State.
The suspected kidnappers, Iliasu Mohammed, Usman Emere, Ravi Yunusa, and another who goes by his street name, Person Ogno Papa were said to be indigene of the town.
They were also said to have been collaborating with outsiders to kidnap prominent people within the council area and environs.
Their latest victim, a lady who was preparing for her wedding was said to be related to one of the gang member Rabi YY; who connived with his gang and abducted her.
The gang was said to have successfully collected N1.5 million from her intended husband, an oil business Mogul popularly known as Alhaji ITA before granting her release.
The kidnappers were said to be operating with the son of a traditional ruler in the council area.
The state Police Public Relation Officer, William Aya who confirmed the story said the kidnapping syndicates were apprehended on November 20, 2020 through the combined efforts of the Police and local vigilante.
Aya said the kidnappers have confessed to the crime as Investigation is still ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicates.
However, the Senior Special Assistant, Security to the Governor for the council area, Hon. Abdullah Abagwu while commenting, assured the security agencies of his cooperation in their quest to fish out criminal in the area.
He warned the youths to desist from crimes while noting that Kogi State under the watch of Governor Yahaya Bello is a no go area for crime.End.
