Senator Smart Adeyemi of Kogi West Senatorial Axis on Monday met with the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Engr. Mustapha Maihaja over the Wednesday attack by militia on Tawari community in Kogi council area of the state that left 24 persons death with property worth millions of naira also destroyed.
The meeting which was held at the head office of the agency in Abuja was at the instance of the senator who seeks immediate assistance for the affected communities.
Senator Adeyemi urged the agency to provide immediate aids to the people of Tawari Community in Kogi local government.
Adeyemi said the action became necessary in few of the fact that the attack has affected both the economy and social life of the people, said helping the affected peoples will go a long way to sooth their lives.
He said though no amount of money or material donations can replaced the lost souls, but an assistance by the agency will go along way to rehabilitate and revamped the community.
Reacting, the Director General, NEMA Engr. Mustapha Maihaja eulogized the proactive measures of the senator seeking relief for the people he represented.
The DG however promised to conduct a site assessment of the community so as to ascertain the kind of relief materials needed.
He also hinted of completing both the assessment and deployment of relief materials to the community latest by weekend.
