Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kolawole Matthew on Thursday put smiles on the faces of widow in his Constituency when he donated foodstuffs and other items worth million of nairas to over 300 widows.
The donation was done side by side the annual Christmas carol and songs of praises organised by the Speaker.
This year event was held at the Johny’s event centre, Kabba, headquarters of Kogi West Senatorial district.
Speaking at the event, Prince Kolawole said that the beneficiaries comprised of over 300 widows selected across the council area.
He said the items, which were donated includes; foodstuffs, wrappers, salts and monetary donation amongst others as compliment for the Yuletide.
Kolawole said the gesture was not meant to spite the widows of their suffering but to compliment whatever they have following the death of their breadwinners.
He said the beneficiaries were carefully selected devoid of political inclination; said the gesture has no political undertones.
“We have ensured that the items only got to those who are actually in need,” Kolawolesaid.
He urged the people of his constituency to keep hope alive of a better next year, said he will continue to make impact in term of uplifting his constituency.
He urged for continual supports to the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in his efforts at promoting and ensuring better governance.
It was glitz and glamour has many musicians were at hands for the Christmas carol. Amongst which were Lord Bishop, Kabba Mass choir, Davidic Crew and others.
